Posting in September. Mostly written in May.
Not a lot happened in April, but Lena did turn 1 year old.
We spent the entire month at home due to the virus restrictions. The reality of the stay at home order has set in. We are quite used to it now, and it seems like everyone has accepted that it is going to be like this for the rest of the summer.
Lena went back to daycare, which was (honestly) a huge relief for us. We could then focus on actually working during the day. I don’t remember when she went back, though.
A typical day…
- Wake up between 5:00 and 6:00 because Lena
- Play with Lena and get her dressed
- Take Lena to daycare
- Work
- Pickup Lena from daycare
- Walk to the park
- Dinner for Lena
- Bedtime for Lena
- Dinner for us and watch Great British Bakeoff
- Bedtime for us
Lena understand lots of things. If we say to go get a book, she will pick out a book from the shelf and bring it to us to read. Same for owl or elephant because she has stuffed owls and an elephant.
She also loves books. She will sit on the floor next to the shelf and pull books off it so that there is a pile around her. She just flips through the pages of one book until she’s done, then grabs another one and does the same thing.
Thinking back on the last year of Parenthood had made me wonder how we got through it. It doesn’t seem like a year. I think we just took it a day at a time. We focus on what we need to do today, and after 10:00 pm we start timing about what we need to do tomorrow.
Lena has gotten into the habit of waking up between 5:00 and 5:30 every morning. At least she is sleeping through the night, though.
She knows nose, ear, and mouth. She nods when we ask her questions, even if she doesn’t actually agree with the question, unless we include “no” in the question, in which case she shakes her head.
